Our Story

A conviction that became a calling

Across twenty-five years as the primary non-operative orthopedic provider for UGA Athletics — and more than thirty years in orthopedic practice — Kelly Ward, PA-C kept seeing the same pattern: 85 to 90 percent of orthopedic patients don’t need surgery, yet people were treating the second half of life as a decline to be managed rather than a race to be run.

At fifty-four, he made the most significant professional decision of his life — not despite his age, but because of it. The conviction came first: Begin to FINISH, a movement for the second half. Then, alongside trusted partners who believed in it, he launched FINISH Performance Health in Athens, Georgia — the movement’s clinical home, an ecosystem of orthopedic-based foundational health built on one conviction: the body and the soul are not separate projects. Medicine, movement, faith, and purpose are one life, not separate appointments.

Begin to FINISH is the movement underneath it all — shaped over the years by wise voices who taught him that the losses and lessons of the first half of life are not setbacks. They are preparation. And the governing conviction hasn’t moved since: the patient remains the most important person in the room.
